Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1 · effective 2026-07-30
What is and is not permitted when using Nightingale services.
This policy sets out how Nightingale services may and may not be used. It applies to every user of every Nightingale application and forms part of the Terms of Service.
Prohibited use
You must not use the Services to:
- break any applicable law or regulation, or infringe anyone's rights;
- store or transmit material that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, or that depicts or promotes the abuse of children or others;
- send unsolicited bulk messages, spam, or deceptive communications;
- impersonate another person or organisation, or misrepresent your affiliation;
- upload personal data you have no lawful basis to process;
- infringe intellectual property rights, including uploading content you do not have the right to use;
- resell, sublicense or provide the Services to third parties except as expressly permitted in your subscription.
Abuse prevention
You must not:
- attempt to access data belonging to another organisation, account or user;
- circumvent authentication, entitlement checks, seat limits, usage limits or billing controls;
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of our systems except under the responsible disclosure process described in the Security & Trust Centre;
- introduce malware, or interfere with the integrity or performance of the Services;
- place automated load on the Services beyond documented API rate limits, or scrape our systems;
- reverse engineer or attempt to derive source code, except to the extent that restriction is prohibited by law.
Security expectations
Users and administrators are expected to keep credentials confidential, use unique passwords, enable additional authentication factors where offered, remove access promptly when someone leaves the organisation, and report suspected security issues to security@nightingalesoftware.co.uk without delay.
Platform integrity
We operate shared infrastructure. Use that degrades service for other customers — whether deliberate or accidental — may be rate limited or suspended.
Enforcement
Where we identify a breach we will normally contact your administrators and give an opportunity to correct it. Where a breach poses an immediate risk to security, legal compliance or platform integrity, we may suspend the affected account or feature immediately and notify you afterwards.
Repeated or serious breaches may result in termination under the Terms of Service.
Reporting a violation
Report suspected misuse to abuse@nightingalesoftware.co.uk.
